The Race Format will consist of 23 classes competing Saturday. Some classes will compete twice (see schedule) below for classes. We will count the best 8 out of 10 finishes for those classes that compete twice, all others will count the best 4 out of 5. We will award and recognize the top finishers for their accomplishments at the year-end banquet. All classes must average 3 entries per class for year end awards .

After countless hours of testing and conversations with racers, engine builders, and industry leaders. We have decided to add duration checks to the intake and exhaust lobes on the Box Stock cams. This update is effective as of 2-12-2010. This will be in effect for the remainder of the 2010 racing season. If needed for 2011 we will take additional steps to control the integrity of this engine program, just as we did this year when we dropped the maximum running lift on the cam.

Camshaft Requirements: add sentence - Duration check for Intake and Exhaust lobes. Intake duration of 218.5 degrees at .050 lift/85.5 degrees at .200 lift. Exhaust duration of 221.5 degrees at .050 lift/96.5 degrees at .200 lift. (All checks will allow +2 degrees for wear and gauge variances.)

De Leon Springs, FL-Gates for the American Kart Racing Association’s (AKRA) Fifth Annual Christmas in Dixie were scheduled to open at 2 p.m. Sunday December 27th. But by 10 a.m. that morning a line of trailers were at the gate eagerly ready to compete in what would be the largest of three major dirt karting events held in central Florida the week between Christmas and New Years. So the gates at Volusia Speedway Park in De Leon Springs, FL were opened early for racers from 11 states who were joined by Canadian and Australian teams for two days of competition on the speedway’s ¼-mile sealed karting clay oval.

The entire event was presented in free live streaming video on AKRA’s web site. Over 12,000 people, including a Japanese family, viewed each day’s mains.

Mind Game Motorsports and Walt Barnes Racing, provided event fast time awards. Each fast time winner received a 12 pack of ‘Sport Drinks’ in addition to watches and other contingency prizes.
